About Us
Do you know your builder? DeHaven's Construction was established in 2002 by husband and wife team, Jay and Serena DeHaven. Previous to the beginning of their business, Jay had already had 11 years of construction experience under his belt. His experience includes; HVAC (heating, venting and air conditioning), civil engineering for the US Military (where he proudly graduated from), framing, roofing and siding. At the age of 19, Jay even constructed his own beautiful custom home. With Jay’s experiences he has worked inside and out of every construction phase. Jay knows how a house is built from start to finish. Mr. DeHaven offers his own services with a family atmosphere. With an open door policy, he is dedicated to making our customers a part of the project as much as possible. With 5 children of our own, we really know how to add on! We are always under construction here at DeHaven's Construction, whether it's a new baby or a job site. DeHaven's Construction is a family owned and operated locally. We love Berkeley County! Both of us are born and raised here with family roots in the area for over 75 years. Jay DeHaven is the son of the well known prominent photographer Jack DeHaven, who has proudly served the eastern panhandle with portrait needs for the past 30 years. Jay's father taught him that hard work, perfecting his trade, and dedication would keep him successful. Also his mother Kay VanMetre, is well known for the large farmlands she held and the business the VanMetre's have brought to this county. Jay's grandfather Lloyd (Buddy) DeHaven served the community for over 50 years as a tow truck driver. For years Jay's father has captured the beauty of a family in his portraits and now Jay builds the walls that hang those loving family memories. DeHaven's Construction has many landmarks in the area on their resume. They actively participate in charity's in the area such as the Habitat Blitz that took place the week of September 11th-15th, 2006. The DeHaven's also speak at local schools and try to donate time whenever possible. We are not a mass production builder with huge replicated subdivisions. We build custom elite homes. Each home is hand crafted and one of a kind. We specialize in building on private lots or recycling abandoned lots in the county. Our subdivision DeHaven's Cove has only 7 lots and was a "recycled" project. The neighbors to this project are overjoyed to see someone fixing up the place and restoring the beauty to Sulphur Springs Road. We at DeHaven's Construction have the same concerns over the county's growth. We have implemented using abandoned or forgotten home lots and would rather recycle them verses building on large virgin wild wonderful West Virginia land for the creation of subdivisions. DeHaven's also offer small services as well, such as additions, decks, basements, and garages. DeHaven's also offer a senior citizen discount on all projects and incentives on starter homes and retirement discounts We are trying to make houses affordable in the eastern panhandle and to get our customers the most housing for their money. We build for every budget. As life long Berkeley county residents we sincerely care about this area and take pride in what we do! We promise you will be more than just another house, deck or addition to us. Just because the county is growing does not mean local businesses shouldn't be a household name like the old days. If you need anything at all, we are only just a phone call away. 304-754-4876
